"message_text": "M. Kerr, C.C. Cheung, J. E. Grove, R. Woolf (NRL), A. Goldstein (USRA), C.A. Wilson-Hodge (MSFC), and M.S. Briggs (UAH) report:\n\nThe Glowbug gamma-ray telescope [1,2], operating on the International Space Station, reports the detection of GRB 230905B, which was also detected by GECAM-C, AstroSat/CZTI, and INTEGRAL/SPI-ACS (GCN 34630, 34635).\n\nUsing an adaptive window with a resolution of 32-ms, the burst onset is determined to be 2023-09-05 15:49:30.096 with a duration of 12.3 s and a total significance of about 34.6 sigma. The light curve comprises a single primary peak with three distinct sub-peaks, each lasting for and separated by about two seconds.\n\nUsing a standard power-law function with an exponential high-energy cutoff [3] to model the emission over this duration results in a photon index dN/dE~E^x of x=1.5 and a cutoff energy (\"Epeak\") of 189 keV. The modeled 10-10000 keV fluence is 1.7e-06 erg/cm^2.\n\nThe analysis results presented here are preliminary and use a response function that lacks a detailed characterization of the surrounding passive structure of the ISS.\n\nGlowbug is a NASA-funded technology demonstrator for sensitive, low-cost gamma-ray transient telescopes developed, built, and operated by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) with support from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, USRA, and NASA MSFC. It was launched on 2023 March 15 aboard the Department of Defense Space Test Programâs STP-H9 to the ISS. The detector comprises 12 large-area (15 cm x 15 cm) CsI:Tl panels covering the surface of a half cube, and two hexagonal (5-cm diameter, 10-cm length) CLLB scintillators, giving it a large field of view (instantaneous FoV ~2/3 sky) over a wide energy band of 50 keV to >2 MeV.\n\n[1] Grove, J.E. et al. 2020, Proc. "message_text": "The IceCube Collaboration (http://icecube.wisc.edu/) reports:\n\nIceCube has performed a search [1] for additional track-like muon neutrino events arriving from the direction of IceCube-230708A (https://gcn.nasa.gov/circulars/34170) in a time range of 1000 seconds centered on the alert event time (2023-07-08 08:08:45.210 UTC to 2023-07-08 08:25:25.210 UTC) during which IceCube was collecting good quality data. Excluding the event that prompted the alert, zero track-like events are found within the 90% containment region of IceCube-230708A.The IceCube sensitivity to neutrino point sources with an E^-2.5 spectrum (E^2 dN/dE at 1 TeV) within the locations spanned by the 90% spatial containment region of IceCube-230708A ranges from 1.3e-01 to 1.4e-01 GeV cm^-2 in a 1000 second time window. 90% of events IceCube would detect from a source at this declination with an E^-2.5 spectrum have energies in the approximate energy range between 2e+02 GeV and 1e+05 GeV.\n\nA subsequent search was performed including 2 days of data centered on the alert event time (2023-07-07 08:17:05.210 UTC to 2023-07-09 08:17:05.210 UTC). In this case, we report a p-value of 1.00, consistent with no significant excess of track events. The IceCube sensitivity to neutrino point sources with an E^-2.5 spectrum (E^2 dN/dE at 1 TeV) within the locations spanned by the 90% spatial containment region of IceCube-230708A is 1.5e-01 GeV cm^-2 in a 2 day time window.\n\nThe IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a cubic-kilometer neutrino detector operating at the geographic South Pole, Antarctica. "message_text": "Chenyu Wang and Zirui Yang report on behalf of the GRID Collaboration:\n\nThe long-duration GRB 230703A (Fermi GBM Trigger Number bn230703954) was also detected with three GRID detectors, GRID-03B, GRID-04, and GRID-07, onboard two different CubeSats.\n\nThe event was triggered by GRID on 2023-07-03 at 22:53:07.4 UTC. The GRID light curves show a two-pulse temporal structure, each with a fast rise exponential decay like shape. The measured burst duration (T90) in the 30-2000 keV range is approximately 18.6 +/- 1.2 seconds. The GRB position derived from the GRID data is consistent with the burst location reported by Fermi/GBM (GCN Notice #710117592). An origin from Cygnus X-1 can be ruled out as the source is occulted by Earth in the view of GRID-03B. Further analysis of the data is currently in progress.\n\nGRID is a student-led project to monitor the transient gamma-ray sky with multiple detectors onboard different nanosatellites in the era of multi-messenger astronomy. Vadawale (PRL) report on behalf of the AstroSat CZTI collaboration:\n\nAnalysis of AstroSat CZTI data with the CIFT framework (Sharma et al., 2021, JApA, 42, 73) showed the detection of a short GRB 230709C which was also detected by Fermi-GBM (Trig. 710617111; Preis et al., GCN Circ. 34187).\n\nThe source was clearly detected in the 20-200 keV energy range. The light curve peaks at 2023-07-09 17:38:26.94 UTC. The measured peak count rate associated with the burst is 3742 (+1196, -481) counts/s above the background in the combined data of all quadrants, with a total of 280 (+65, -56) counts. The local mean background count rate was 337 (+34, -54) counts/s. Using cumulative rates, we measure a T90 of 0.33 (+0.30, -0.03) s. We caution that there was a 0.3 s readout dead time in CZTI before the detection of the burst. Hence, the T90 can be as large as 0.63 s for this GRB, with a lower limit of 0.30 s as estimated above by cumulative rates.\n\nThe source was also clearly detected in the CsI anticoincidence (Veto) detector in the 100-500 keV energy range.\n\nCZTI is built by a TIFR-led consortium of institutes across India, including VSSC, URSC, IUCAA, SAC, and PRL. The BAT image\nsignificance is 2.7 sigma (15-350 keV). Also, the mask-weighted\nlight curve does not show anything significant. Kennea (PSU) report,\n\nSwift-XRT carried out 13 observations of the region of IceCube-230707A (Lincetto et al., GCN Circ 34163), from 59 ks to 78 ks after the neutrino trigger; the typical exposure time was 300 s per field.\n\nWe detected three uncatalogued X-ray objects, however all of these are classified as âpoorâ by the source detection algorithm (Evans et al., 2020) and are thus likely spurious. "message_text": "The LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the Virgo Collaboration, and the\nKAGRA Collaboration report:\n\nWe identified the compact binary merger candidate S230708t during\nreal-time processing of data from LIGO Hanford Observatory (H1) and\nLIGO Livingston Observatory (L1) at 2023-07-08 05:37:05.120 UTC (GPS\ntime: 1372829843.120). The candidate was found by the MBTA [1] and\nGstLAL [2] analysis pipelines.\n\nS230708t is an event of interest because its false alarm rate, as\nestimated by the online analysis, is 4.3e-08 Hz, or about one in 8\nmonths. The event's properties can be found at this URL:\n\nhttps://gracedb.ligo.org/superevents/S230708t\n\nThe classification of the GW signal, in order of descending\nprobability, is BBH (97%), Terrestrial (3%), NSBH (<1%), or BNS (<1%).\n\nThere was a high rate of noise transients (glitches) in the LIGO Hanford\ndetector which may affect the parameters or the significance of\nthe candidate.\n\nAssuming the candidate is astrophysical in origin, the probability\nthat the lighter compact object is consistent with a neutron star mass\n(HasNS) is <1%. [3] Using the masses and spins inferred from the\nsignal, the probability of matter outside the final compact object\n(HasRemnant) is <1%. [3] Both HasNS and HasRemnant consider the\nsupport of several neutron star equations of state. Meegan (UAH) report on behalf of\nthe Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor Team:\n\n\"At 18:46:20.29 UT on 07 July 2023, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM)\ntriggered and located GRB 230707B (trigger 710448385/230707782).\nwhich was also detected by Swift/BAT-GUANO (James DeLaunay et al. 2023, GCN 34169)\nand CALET GBM (S. Torii et al. 2023, GCN 34189). The Fermi GBM Final Real-time Localization\nwas reported at GCN 34165.\n\nThe angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 83 degrees.\n\nThe GBM light curve is long and consists of many peaks with a duration (T90)\nof 99.6 s (50-300 keV). The time-averaged spectrum\nfrom T0-2.3 to T0+117.5 s is best fit by\na Band function with Epeak = 143 +/- 5 keV,\nalpha = -0.63 +/- 0.04, and beta = -2.15 +/- 0.05.\n\nThe event fluence (10-1000 keV) in this time interval is\n(5.4 +/- 0.1)E-05 erg/cm^2. Michigan) -- the GRBAlpha collaboration.\n\nThe long-duration GRB 230709B (Fermi/GBM detection: GCN Circ. 34179) was observed by the GRBAlpha 1U CubeSat (Pal et al. 2023; arXiv:2302.10048).\n\nThe detection was confirmed at the peak time 2023-07-09 16:56:15 UTC. The T90 duration measured by GRBAlpha is 6 s and the overall significance during T90 reaches 9 sigma.\n\nThe light curve obtained by GRBAlpha is available here: https://grbalpha.konkoly.hu/static/share/GRB230709B_GCN.pdf\n\nAll GRBAlpha detections are listed at: https://monoceros.physics.muni.cz/hea/GRBAlpha/ GRBAlpha, launched on 2021 March 22, is a demonstration mission for a future CubeSat constellation (Werner et al. Proc. SPIE 2018). The detector of GRBAlpha consists of a 75 x 75 x 5 mm3 CsI scintillator read out by a SiPM array, covering the energy range from ~50 keV to ~1000 keV.
